PINTEREST: the latest social website to be part of...

"Connecting everyone in the world through the 'things' they find interesting"

in short (as always); Pinterest is a new social website that allows users to create and manage theme-based image collections such as events, interests, hobbies and more. Users can browse other pinboards for inspiration, 're-pin' images to their own collections and or 'like' photos.

SWANTON BOMBS

We've been following this band for a few years now, after a slight change of sound and a line-up adjustment; Swanton Bombs have finally found themselves. Blending raw blues rock with an indie edge, they always achieve a decent reception at gigs. If you get a chance to check these guys out, do it.. and make sure it's a small venue. You won't be disappointed.

For fans of: Black Keys, Soledad Brothers, Eugene McGuiness

COASTAL CITIES

Coastal Cities are an indie-dance band from Bucks (our home turf!) they blend the complex guitar sounds of Foals with the fun of the Maccabees. We're very proud to have them featured here on the blog and even more so that they're from our town.

TOULOUSE WOLFE

Toulouse Wolfe are a Melancholic Folk 2-piece from Milton Keynes, we recommend them to anyone who recognises true talent from a glimpse. Their music is exactly that.. raw and beautifully constructed art that people should not pass by.

listen to: A Place to Hide

for fans of: Bat for Lashes, St. Vincent, Wild Beasts

FIXERS

Fixers are a band you need to check out and keep an eye on over the next few months. Their songs are being remixed all over the place (one of which we link to below.) New single 'Swimmhaus Johannesburg' is very good but some of the vocals in the verses annoy us tremendously.

Which is why we're showcasing the Beat Connection remix of the single:

YOUNG THE GIANT

An American Rock band who're signed to Roadrunner Records. A different signing for the label who primarily home Heavy / Death Metal bands but these guys know how to write a song and perform it like it's the last time they ever can.

Their single 'My Body' is an inspiring, motivating track that has received much attention from all the right people to get this band in all the right places.

listen to: My Body

for fans of: Incubus, Kings of Leon, Minus the Bear.

GIVERS

Givers are an indie pop band from Louisiana, apparently they were one of "ten acts that rocked SXSW this year".
Their single 'Up Up Up' is receiving quite a bit of press at the moment.. However, this isn't what caught our eye (ears). The CSS Remix of the song is brilliant and gives the band exactly what it needs to stand out from the crowd. The remix is nowhere to be found online but here's the performance from SXSW:

STAR SLINGER

Darren Williams aka Star Slinger is NOT a DJ. Clearly stated before his set at the Great Escape earlier this year. He is however a very clever Glitch-Hop producer who creates stunning music that anyone can appreciate.

for fans of: Gold Panda, Kanye West, J Dilla.

TRIBES

Tribes are a breath of fresh air to live music, their songs are catchy, meaningful and full of energy. There's a lot of hype going about and in our opinion, it's well justified.

listen to: We Were Children and Sappho

for fans of: Pixies, Bowie, 4 or 5 Magicians.

ACTION BEAT

Action Beat are completely different to the kind of bands we usually blog about.. in fact; they're completely different generally... Which is why we're blogging about them.

This is DIY in it's truest form, a honest and original band that change their line up depending on which members are available for shows. Even if you're not a fan of this kind of music, you will certainly appreciate the passion and influence these guys have to offer.

For fans of: Sonic Youth, Fugazi, Black Flag
